What is Cyber Resilience?

• Cyber resilience is the ability of an organization to continue operating effectively (or recover quickly) even when cyberattacks, data breaches, ransomware, system failures, or other major cyber incidents occur.

• It goes beyond traditional cybersecurity (which focuses mainly on preventing attacks) to emphasize preparation, response, and rapid recovery so that business-critical functions are not seriously disrupted.

Ransomware gangs now commonly delete or encrypt cloud backups first, so modern cyber-resilience strategies focus heavily on:

• Immutable and air-gapped backups (cannot be altered or deleted by attackers)

• Rapid detection and automated orchestration (SOAR platforms)

• Offline/clean-room recovery environments

• Cyber insurance requirements increasingly demand proven resilience capabilities
